Lorray S. C. Brown is the Executive Director of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS), a statewide advocacy program that provides legal services, advocacy, and support through programs serving low-income individuals, immigrant communities, older adults, and Michigan’s legal aid community. MSAS’ statewide programs are the Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP), Michigan Legal Help (MLH), Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC), and the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative (MEJI). Before becoming Executive Director, Ms. Brown was also the program director and the statewide consumer law specialist for the Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) starting in 2001. She also directed the Michigan Foreclosure Prevention Project starting in 2009. In her role as the statewide consumer law and foreclosure specialist, she provided litigation, advocacy and case consultation support for cases involving foreclosure prevention, anti-predatory lending, debt collection, payday loans, garnishment and student loans. Ms. Brown has conducted numerous trainings concerning consumer law, predatory lending, foreclosures, and mortgage servicing.
