The Federal Trade Commission’s core mission is to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive practices in the marketplace. What has become abundantly clear based on research and experience is that certain frauds and business practices have a disproportionately negative impact on communities of color.
The FTC’s newly released Serving Communities of Color Report summarizes the past five years of the FTC’s efforts to address, understand, and educate people about consumer issues that have a disproportionately negative impact on communities of color. In this webinar, you’ll hear updates on the FTC’s work to serve communities of color, with a focus on research, law enforcement, and outreach.
FTC staff will discuss:
- New analysis of the consumer reports in the FTC’s Consumer Sentinel Network, which shows disparities in the reporting rates from Black, Latino, and White communities
- Details about the type of frauds and schemes that have targeted or affected communities of color
- Free FTC resources to help consumers avoid scams and other consumer issues
What You Will Learn
