Guest Commentary: This Black Friday, a slew of popular gifts will come with unfair forced arbitration.

By T.A. Taylor-Hunt, Colorado state chair for the National Association of Consumer Advocates.

“While I hate to be a Grinch, I feel compelled to let my fellow shoppers know that some of the most popular gifts of the season are subject to forced arbitration clauses, including Nintendo games, Hot Wheels cars and virtually every cell phone on the market. If something goes wrong with one of these gifts or there is a dispute with the manufacturer, consumers have to go through a time-consuming, potentially expensive and intimidating arbitration process.”
