Deposition Skills

One of the most crucial components of preparing your case for the best settlement outcomes and for trial is obtaining deposition testimony that will help tell the story to the judge, mediator or jury. Taking an effective deposition requires lots of skill, from choosing what questions to ask, how to follow-up when you get game-changing testimony, how to tell your clients story through the deposition’s questions, and how to deal with stonewalling or uncooperative witnesses. 

For some of us, listening to someone tell you how to give a deposition is not enough, for others it’s a great way to learn.  This year’s workshop will provide you with the unique opportunity to do- hands on training and/or watch your colleagues taking depositions. 

Please note that this workshop will contain a mix of class-room style and interactive deposition-taking. Space is limited, please register early to secure your spot.  

 


Class Action Workshop

Managing a successful class action practice involves a lot of strategy and expertiseOn a tactical level, one needs to overcome many early hurdles such as solvency, waivers, and pickoffs, as well as later challenges with ethical advertising, early case motions and discovery battles. Furthermore, there are interpersonal skills that need to be developed to manage client expectations and relationships with defense counsel. This year’s workshop explores the nuts and bolts of how to run a class action firm. 

 


Auto Practicum

To thrive in your auto fraud practice, it can be super helpful to do a deep dive into one case type and explore how to improve every aspect of your practice from intake to trial. This year the Auto Practicum is focusing on cases associated with the AS is purchase of a vehicle with prior accident history.  Over two days you will gain the skills needed to spot these cases, build evidence pre-suit and during litigation and handle these cases in arbitration and trial. In addition, we will help you gain the practical skills to negotiate a strong settlement.
